Report: Dale Tallon Resumes General Manager Duties
If you’re confused by the title of this piece, don’t worry, you’re not the only out there who is questioning what’s going on with the Florida Panthers. The organization recently fired head coach Gerard Gallant and moved Tom Rowe behind the bench, and then after that is where it gets a bit messy.
Just last year Dale Tallon made way for Tom Rowe to come in to the organization and take over managerial duties for the Florida Panthers. Less than a year later, after the debacle that was the firing of Gallant, he is back where he started. None of this seems to make sense to anyone in the hockey community, including people like Darren Dreger, who tries to make sense of it in the form of tweets.
Dale Tallon is resuming control of management duties and Hockey Ops in Florida. Panthers need to get back on track and stabilize things.

Dreger later goes on to tweet “There won’t be an overhaul in Florida, but Tallon will likely want to make some changes and add pieces after the holiday roster freeze.” He continues on to say “Many reminding Tallon is the pres of hockey ops, but anyone in the know understands his role in Florida had been diminished.. Until now…” and adds, “… he will now actively manage day-to-day which is a great move by the Panthers. Players need the stability and trust Tallon.”
Not saying Tallon will disregard analytic move in FLA, but expect moves made to better team D and make them tougher to play against.

One worry for Florida fans is that now, after the firing of Gallant, the organization was trying to move towards the age of analytics, something many thought Tallon wouldn’t follow along with. And, unfortunately for those worries, it sounds like he may respect that, but only to a certain extent. For now, there isn’t much more to do but sit back with your popcorn and enjoy the mess that is the Florida Panthers front office.
