Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand can’t keep his mouth to himself. The forward has gotten a taste of his opponent’s twice this postseason. This second incident has gotten the league’s attention as Executive Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell has put Marchand on notice.
NHL’s Colin Campbell spoke with Boston’s Brad Marchand and GM Don Sweeney today. The League put the player on notice that his actions last night are unacceptable and similar behavior in the future will be dealt with by way of supplemental discipline.

Marchand is now on notice and is subject to supplemental discipline if he’s caught licking another player.
Brad Marchand: Two-Time Licker
Marchand’s reputation has followed him because of his aggressive play. However, he added licking to his repertoire in the Game 1 of Boston’s first round series with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Marchand appeared to lick Leo Komarov in the Bruins’s 5-1 victory. It wasn’t the first encounter between the pair as Marchand kissed Komarov on Nov. 11, 2017.
The league denied speaking with Marchand about the first incident, but Marchand got another lick in during Friday’s 4-3 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Halifax native licked Tampa Bay forward Ryan Callahan during Game 4.

A Strange History of Licking
This isn’t the first time that Marchand has used his mouth on his opponents. USA Today’s For the Win blog documented the Boston forward’s long, strange history of getting mouthy.
Dallas Stars forward Patrick Eaves pushed away Marchand when he tried kissing him during a game Feb 20, 2016. Marchand then planted a kiss on Komarov over a year later. The kisses were another addition to the ways Marchand irritated other players.
What This Means For Marchand And The Bruins
All eyes will be on Marchand as Boston tries to rally. He will have an even bigger target on his back and might get a receipt if any of the three games turn into a blowout. The list to payback Marchand is a long one.
