OTPP: Olympic Hockey Decision Time; Sidney Crosby Scoring and Slashing
Decision time is quickly approaching for the NHL on their participation in the 2018 Olympic Games in South Korea. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman wants more concessions from the IOC and IIHF, while Rene Fassel wants an answer from the league before May 1st. He also has indicated that the league can’t skip South Korea and just go to Japan. The boys examine the latest statements from both sides, and talk about the impact that skipping the games would have around the league.
Sidney Crosby has had an eventful week. He re-took the NHL goal scoring lead; closed the gap on Connor McDavid‘s points lead; scored the best goal of his career; speared Ryan O’Reilly below the belt; and slashed the finger off of Marc Methot. We discuss the issues, what trophies he will take home, and if he should be suspended.
They also look at the upcoming Frozen Four Tournament and the start of playoffs across the three CHL leagues.
All that and more in this edition of On the Power Play.
