Key Players

In Soshnikov, the Blues get a fast player that can kill penalties. A smaller player, standing at 5’11” Soshnikov is fantastic at being a pest and getting under the skin of his opponent. This season he has put not pup up any points in three games with the Leafs. He also played in 16 games for the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, with six goals and eight assists for 14 points in 19 AHL games.

Last season, he scored five goals and four assists for nine points in 56 games. He also added 16 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were a 48.9 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of -2.5. Over his three-year NHL career, Soshnikov has played exclusively for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He has put up seven goals and seven assists for 14 career points in 70 career games. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent from Russia in 2015.

Soshnikov is on the third and final year of his entry-level contract and has a cap hit of $925,000 (which includes $125,000 in potential performance bonuses). He is set to become a restricted free agent on July 1st.

  1. Sounds a lot like the Blues just picked up Magnus Pajaarvi again. Maybe a precursor of a bigger move? At least sure I hope so! This team is flatlining.
