Micheal Ferland Injured
While it was not clear exactly when he was injured, Ferland only had 12:37 of ice time in Carolina’s 2-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. He did not practice today because of his concussion. Ferland is currently in concussion protocol. There is no definite timetable for his return.
So far this season, Ferland has scored 11 goals and four assists for 15 points in 24 games to go along with 13 minutes in penalties. He leads the Hurricanes in goals this season. Sebastian Aho is second on the team in goals with seven. He is third on the team in points, only behind Aho and Teuvo Teravainen. He averages 15:34 of ice time per game this season. Ferland’s possession stats are 55.5 percent Corsi-For and a -2.9 relative Corsi.
Ferland is in his fifth NHL season. He has played 274 career NHL games with the Calgary Flames and Carolina Hurricanes. In those 274 games, he has 53 goals and 51 assists for 104 total points. He has averaged 13:04 of ice time per game in his career. He played four seasons in Calgary before he was traded to Carolina during the off-season with Dougie Hamilton and Adam Fox for Noah Hanifin and Elias Lindholm.
What This Means For The Future
Forward Clark Bishop was recalled by the Hurricanes today. The Hurricanes also placed defenceman Haydn Fleury on injured reserve with his concussion.
