Filip Forsberg Out

The Nashville Predators announced on Saturday that they have placed forward Filip Forsberg on injured reserve with an upper-body injury. Forsberg is expected to be out four to six weeks.

Predators Place Filip Forsberg on Injured Reserve

The injury occurred during Thursday night’s 3-0 loss at the hands of the Arizona Coyotes. Forsberg wasn’t forced to leave the game but he did miss practice on Friday and again on Saturday morning before being placed on the injured reserve.

Forsberg has been off to a hot start for the Predators scoring 14 goals and adding eight assists for 22 points in 26 games. He is currently leading the team in both goals and points.

Over his career, Forsberg has scored 131 goals and 146 assists for 277 points in 357 games, all with the Nashville Predators.

Forsberg was originally drafted by the Washington Capitals in the first round in 2012 but was dealt to the Predators in 2013 for Martin Erat.

Yet Another Injury for the Predators

As if the Predators needed any more bad news. Forsberg is now the fourth player to hit the injured reserve in the past month for Nashville. He joins forwards Kyle Turris and Viktor Arvidsson as well as defenceman P.K. Subban on the long list which now means 34.7% of the team’s cap hit is now injured.

With the injury to Forsberg, the Predators will look to recently recalled Eeli Tolvanen to step into the top six and pick up the offence for the injured star.  Tolvanen has scored four goals and seven assists for the Predators AHL affiliate Milwaukee Admirals. He has been held off the scoresheet in each of his first three NHL games which were played last season. Tonight’s game will be the first of the season for Tolvanen.

The Predators will play host to the Chicago Blackhawks tonight.
