The Boston Bruins announced that center David Krejci has been placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury. There is no time table for his return to the line-up.

David Krejci Out With Upper-Body Injury

Krejci has missed the last two games after being injured in the first period of Boston’s game versus the Anaheim Ducks last Monday.

So far this season, Krejci has an assist in five games. His possession numbers are 49.1 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of -2.2.

Krejci has spent his entire 14-year career in a Bruins uniform. He has 194 goals and 450 assists for 644 career points in 855 career games. He was originally drafted by the Bruins in the second round, 63rd overall in the 2004 NHL Draft.

What This Means for the Future

With Krejci being put on IR, the Bruins have called up Anders Bjork from Providence (AHL) on an emergency basis. Bjork currently leads Providence with three goals and five assists for eight points in seven games this season. He has also added four minutes in penalties. Bjork has played in 50 career NHL games while putting up five goals and 15 assists for 20 points.

Bjork will slot in on the Bruins third line and play on the left side in tonight’s game. The Bruins are off to a hot start this season and are currently sitting second in the Atlantic Division.

Joakim Nordstrom who has missed Saturday’s game in Toronto is back skating today at practice. He was not on the morning rushes so it’s unlikely that he will suit up in tonight’s game. Nordstrom has put up a goal in four games this season. The Bruins signed him back in 2018 to a two-year, two million dollar deal that will end at the end of this season.
