Louis Domingue Injured
During the game against the Colorado Avalanche on Friday, he left the game with an injury. The injury occurred during the second period. It is unclear how the injury happened, but Domingue left the game in some discomfort. Before leaving the game, Domingue came to the bench during a break in the action. Domingue was speaking with the trainer about his injury and pointing to his groin area. The team has not officially indicated what the injury is, but all they are saying is that it is lower-body. The decision was made to pull Domingue and insert MacKenzie Blackwood into the game.
The Devils acquired Domingue in a trade from the Tampa Bay Lightning earlier in the season. He started out in the AHL, before being called up as the Devils sent down Cory Schneider to find his game. Since coming to New Jersey, Domingue has a record of 1-4 with a 4.15 goals-against average and a .862 save percentage six appearances. He has started five games for the Devils this season. Prior to his injury, Domingue was playing well against the Avalanche.
Goaltending has been an issue for the Devils all season. Coach Nasreddine set up his goaltending with Domingue starting against the Avalanche and Blackwood against the Arizona Coyotes. Blackwood is still on track to start Saturday night against the Coyotes. With the Devils on back-to-back games, and several days off before there next game, it will interesting if the team recalls a goalie from the AHL. Or will the Devils just an emergency goalie as the backup tonight. If Domingue is going to miss more time then Schneider will be called up.
