The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced that they have placed forward Alexandre Texier on injured reserve. In a corresponding move, the club has added Justin Scott on an emergency basis from their AHL affiliate Cleveland Monsters.

Texier sustained the injury in Tuesday’s 4-1 win over the Florida Panthers. He suffered a lumbar stress fracture and will be out indefinitely.

In 36 games this season, Texier has scored six goals and added seven assists for 13 points.

Texier was originally drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the second round, 45th overall in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Blue Jackets Hit With Another Injury

Will the bleeding ever stop for the Blue Jackets? Texier is the fifth Blue Jackets player to be placed on injured reserve since the middle of December. Texier joins top offensive players Cam Atkinson and Oliver Bjorkstrand, along with Joonas Korpisalo, Josh Anderson among others on the Blue Jackets long list of injuries.

Despite these injuries, the Blue Jackets have managed to stay afloat. They currently sit just five points out of the final wild-card position. They have not lost a game in regulation over their last 10 games, posting a record of 6-0-4. This includes a controversial overtime loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. This loss cost head coach John Tortorella quite a bit of cash as he was fined $20,000 for his comments about the officiating after the game.

With Texier out, the Blue Jackets will face quite the uphill battle. Missing so many key roster players, including their starting goaltender could swamp the Blue Jackets. They’ve had an admirable season thus far after losing so many big-name players to free agency, including Matt Duchene and Artemi Panarin. They’ve been faced with adversity all season long so this is just another familiar scenario for the team. However, these injuries will surely catch up to them at some point.

The Blue Jackets will face the Atlantic Divison leading Boston Bruins on Thursday night.
