Robby Fabbri Injured
Even though Fabbri took part in the morning on Tuesday, he is still suffering from the effects of an injury he received on Sunday. During the Red Wings 3-1 win over the Boston Bruins, Fabbri suffered an injury to his jaw. The injury occurred during the first period when Fabbri was between Chris Wagner and Par Lindholm. He went straight to the locker room. Head coach Jeff Blashill listed the forward as day-to-day. The good news for Fabbri and the Red Wings at least it was not another knee injury. Another positive note is that is was on the ice prior to the game, but any time the head is involved, you have to be careful.
Since being acquired by the Red Wings back in November from the St. Louis Blues, Fabbri is relishing the role. Even though Detroit is not winning, Fabbri is seeing more ice time. In 40 games with the Red Wings this season, Fabbri has 27 points ( 11 goals and 16 assists). His playing time has increased. He always had potential in St. Louis but never could crack the lineup due to his injury history.
The Red Wings continue to struggle in the standings and with injuries. You can add Fabbri to the list of the walking wounded as the team has been without Frans Nielsen (upper-body) and Darren Helm (lower-body). The Red Wings could see Anthony Mantha return from injury against the Sabres Mantha was dealing with a rib injury.
It is unclear how long Fabbri will be out of the lineup. Day-to-day could turn into week-to-week. With the Red Wings travelling to New Jersey for a game Thursday night, it will be interesting is see if he gets back into the lineup then or does the team decides to hold him out for a few more games.
