The Vegas Golden Knights have extended goaltender Oscar Dansk to a one-year contract worth $700,000.

 Vegas Extends Oscar Dansk

Making his debut during the Golden Knights inaugural season, Dansk helped that team write history. During the first months of the 2017-18 season, Dansk played in his first National Hockey League game. Dansk was coming in as a replacement for all the injuries at the position and played extremely well. Winning his first three NHL starts, along with a shutout in one of them.

Dansk has played in five NHL games, so far. In those games, he has recorded three wins and one loss. Along with that, he posted a 2.89 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage. He was originally drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets 31st overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

The Swedish born goaltender has played most of his time in the American Hockey League. In 35 games in the AHL this season, Dansk has an 18-12-4 record with a 2.57 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage. He was able to help guide the Chicago Wolves to the Calder Cup Finals during the 2018-19 season.

What This Means for the Future

Moving forward, it seems the Golden Knights are in good hands when it comes to their goalie situation. While Dansk has very little NHL experience, he does have the ability to play in the league. The young goaltender has plenty of time to grow and mature. With Marc-Andre Fleury and Robin Lehner in front of him on the depth chart. Vegas really has no need to rush Dansk development. Now that the Golden Knights affiliate team will be located only a few miles from the team. There will be no problem keeping Dansk in the rotation when they need him.
