We will do a series called NHL Comic Captions by team collecting some photos with humorous captions to entertain you during this suspension in play… and perhaps cheer you up a bit. Today we cover the Buffalo Sabres comic captions for the 2019-20 season.

Buffalo Sabres Comic Captions for 2019-20

Jack Eichel

Jack Eichel seems to be sick and tired of losing in Buffalo. Can’t really blame the guy. In his five years in Buffalo he has yet to see his team make the playoffs. The guy literally carried his team offensively this season. He tallied 36 goals and 42 assists for 78 points in 68 games. Not much more he can do really.

Now that he has expressed his disdain of constantly losing, the trade rumours are flying like the snow that falls in Buffalo in the winter. Not many teams will be able to afford the contract he signed in October of 2017 worth $80 million for eight years. He is a true talent and there will be considerable interest in another team obtaining his services. It’s not certain if the shakeup in Buffalo will appease Eichel’s disappointment in playing there. He wants to win, and that is just not happening in Buffalo.

Eichel is deadly on the power play. This season he had 11 goals and assisted on 16 others. His career totals with the Sabres is also impressive. He has 137 goals and 200 assists in 354 games. The only area he may need to improve upon is in the faceoff circle where he has just a 43.7 success ratio.

If Eichel stays in Buffalo, they really need to step up and improve the team around him.

Here’s our Buffalo Sabres comic caption for Jack Eichel.

Sam Reinhart

Sam Reinhart has picked up his game over the last couple of seasons. He has added 115 points in 151 games over that period to finally quiet the calls that he isn’t living up to being chosen second overall in the 2014 draft. His name has been in the rumour mill because of it and now those calls may subside a bit. But seeing how the team only signed him to a two-year bridge deal ($7.3 million) in September of 2018, he will become a restricted free agent after this pandemic shortened season concludes.

So, it seems the team is at a crossroads concerning Reinhart’s future in Buffalo. He has improved, but will he still be traded? Or how about a non-performer like Jeff Skinner who signed an eight-year $72 million contract and only scored 23 points in 59 games this season? What’s going on there?

Let’s face it, the Buffalo Sabres are a hot mess. If Reinhart gets another contract, he will need to continue his road to improvement. Along with Eichel they could really be an offensive weapon the team needs to get out of medicrity.

Rasmus Dahlin

Rasmus Dahlin was the Sabres’ first overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry draft and he has shown why. While Dahlin is just 20-years-old, he’s NHL ready and in his two short years in Buffalo he has collected 13 goals and 71 assists for 84 points in 141 games. While he has yet to score a power play goal, his 32 assists show he is really involved in that special teams unit. To demonstrate the coaching staff’s confidence in his play he has averaged over 20 minutes of playing time per game.

For such a young player, his Corsi For stats are great with a 52.4 per cent. His Relative Corsi is not bad either with a 4.2. The young man from Lidkoping, Sweden has shown he belongs in the NHL, and from this point forward he will prove it every time he steps onto the ice. He placed third in the Calder Trophy voting last season awarded to the best rookie in the NHL.

With Dahlin’s play accelerating as time goes by, the Sabres can only hold great promise for what he can accomplish in Buffalo. Now, if the rest of the team (excluding Eichel) can play to their level of expectation, the Sabres could maybe sneak into the playoffs within a couple of years.
